Cattle Smuggling Cases Do Not Warrant Preventive Detention: J&K&L High Court

The Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court quashed a preventive detention order involving cattle smuggling and offences under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Justice Rahul Bharti held that such transportation activities concern law and order rather than public order, stating that the preventive detention of the petitioner is misconceived. The Court directed that the petitioner be released from custody.
