Human-elephant conflict in West Singhbhum, Jharkhand, India, has become a serious issue due to habitat degradation from agriculture, mining, and infrastructure. A study conducted between 2018 and 2020 recorded 157 human casualties and significant property damage, highlighting the impact of landscape changes on conflict patterns. The research found a decline in dense forest cover and habitat fragmentation, influencing elephant movement and increasing interactions with human settlements, particularly in the Chaibasa Forest Division.
