Dynamics of Leopard Occupancy and Detection Amid Human Disturbance and Habitat Fragmentation in Gautala-Autramghat Wildlife Sanctuary, Maharashtra, Western India

A study on leopard occupancy in the Gautala-Autramghat Wildlife Sanctuary in Maharashtra assessed how human activity and habitat fragmentation affect leopards. The research found that mixed deciduous forests support leopard presence, while fragmented habitats and livestock negatively impact their occupancy. The estimated occupancy rate was around 69%, suggesting the need for focused conservation efforts in these areas.
