Assam moves to exempt traditional buffalo fight ‘Moh Juj’ from animal cruelty law

Assam is proposing an exemption for the traditional buffalo fight known as ‘Moh Juj’ from the animal cruelty law. This move is aimed at preserving the cultural practice in the state. The exemption is being discussed as of November 2025.
