Stray cattle on roads an invitation to death: Supreme Court calls for compensation policy for accident victims

The Supreme Court of India noted that stray cattle on highways pose a serious risk of fatal accidents. It directed that a compensation scheme be established for people injured or killed in such collisions. The ruling was issued on 31 July 2026.
