A study identified an arctic-like lineage of rabies virus in a wild fox found dead in Mannamangalam forest station, Thrissur, Kerala, India. The research involved analyzing the fox's brain sample using molecular techniques and next-generation sequencing, revealing that the virus closely matched other Indian isolates. This study provides information about the genetic characteristics of rabies strains in the context of wildlife and human interaction.
