Emotional Geographies of Human–Elephant Conflict: Integrating Socio-Psychological and Ecological Dimensions in a Fragmented Landscape of Eastern India

The study examines human-elephant conflict in the Banspal region of Keonjhar district, Odisha, India, focusing on emotional and psychological factors alongside ecological aspects. Despite substantial economic losses from such conflicts, a majority of local respondents maintain positive views of elephants. The research suggests existing conflict mitigation strategies overlook emotional factors and proposes an integrated model for coexistence that blends ecological restoration with community engagement.
