Human-wildlife conflict in India is notably impacted by nilgai, which damage crops in agricultural areas. A review of research from 1989 to June 2026 highlights the need for better evidence on managing this issue, as current national estimates of damage lack solid support. The study indicates that crop loss is influenced by various environmental factors and suggests the necessity of coordinated management strategies that involve monitoring, barriers, and potential population control measures.
