A 54-day-old unvaccinated German shepherd puppy in Pune, India, presented with severe itching and self-biting behavior, which delayed its rabies diagnosis. The puppy was euthanized and post-mortem tests confirmed the presence of the Arctic-like 1a rabies virus in its brain tissue. This case represents one of the youngest known instances of atypical canine rabies symptoms associated with this viral strain.
