A STUDY TO ANALYSE THE DEMOGRAPHICS AND INJURY PATTERN OF DOG BITE CASES IN EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT OF A TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL IN CHENNAI

A study conducted in Chennai from November 2025 to April 2026 analyzed 216 dog bite cases in an emergency department. Most victims were adults, with a significant number bitten by stray dogs, and many presented within a day of the injury. The study noted that while many were treated with tetanus toxoid or antibiotics, there were gaps in awareness regarding first aid and rabies prevention.
