A study conducted in the Nilgiris district of Tamil Nadu analyzed human-wildlife conflict in agricultural areas, focusing on crop damage caused by animals like elephants and sloth bears. Using agent-based modeling, it simulated scenarios with no management, deterrents, and crop switching to assess their effects on crop loss, revealing that crop switching was the most effective method to reduce conflict and damage. The study utilized real-life data and highlighted that smaller farms near forests were more vulnerable to wildlife interactions.
