A study analyzed the cost-effectiveness of childhood pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for rabies in Kerala, India, from 2026 to 2035. The findings indicated that routine PrEP increased healthcare costs but prevented only a limited number of additional deaths compared to existing dog vaccination and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) strategies. The results suggested that enhancing dog vaccination and optimizing PEP was more effective in reducing rabies deaths.
