A study from November 2020 to December 2022 at Bani Wildlife Sanctuary in Jammu and Kashmir, India, examined the diet of common leopards. Researchers analyzed 128 scat samples and identified 18 prey species, noting variations in diet across seasons; wild ungulates were primarily consumed in winter, while livestock predation peaked in summer. The findings indicate that dietary breadth was wider in autumn and narrower in summer, revealing a connection between leopard diets and human–wildlife conflict.
